OUTING – Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve Leader: Mike Buckham

Meet at 08h00.
Paarl Mountain Reserve is excellent for fynbos specials such as Protea Seedeater, Grey-backed Cisticola, Karoo Prinia, and Orange-breasted Sunbird. The reserve is also a hotspot for raptor activity, especially Rufous-breasted Sparrowhawk.
Directions: Take the N1 north towards Paarl. At the first exit for Paarl, take exit 55 to Paarl Main Road. Follow signs to the Taal Monument. A few hundred metres
from exiting the motorway turn left into Flambeau Street and then immediately left again to stay in Flambeau Street. Continue until you turn left again into Chappelle Street, which soon turns into a T-junction which is Gabbema Doordrift Street. Turn right here and drive up the winding road through a large stone pine plantation until you reach the Taal Monument in front of you. Rotary Drive is on your right. We will meet at the entrance to Rotary Drive just below the Taal Monument and drive along
Rotary Drive stopping occasionally along the way. We will finish at the Meulwater Botanical Gardens.
