Meet at 08h30 at the Sunbird Centre. The walking trail follows the middle section of the Silvermine River at the western end of Kleintuin mountain. We can expect to see a number of fynbos endemics such as Cape Sugarbird, Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cape Siskin. Other species include Bar- throated Apalis, Cape Grassbird, Cape Robin-chat, Jackal Buzzard, Southern Boubou, and Bokmakierie. Meet at 08h00. These regular monthly outings are for all Rondevlei enthusiasts and beginners are especially welcome. Duration 2 1⁄2 hours, but you can stay as long as you like. Bring a warm anorak even if it is a hot day as it can get cold in the hides. Entrance is free. Meet at 07h30. The Moravian church in Mamre is South Africa’s fifth oldest church and was completed in 1818 and was declared a National Monument in 1967. We will do some farmland birding and also spend some time on the church grounds. An early start gives us the advantage of beating the heat and seeing some of the birds before they retreat for the day. Some migrants, such as Spotted Flycatcher and Willow Warbler might still be around, and other possible birds include Greater and Lesser Honeyguide, Olive and Cardinal Woodpecker, African Hoopoe, and maybe even a Brown Snake Eagle. … Continued
Please join us by meeting at the Edith Stepehens Nature Reserve gate at 08h00 on Friday morning. Then we are taken to the Symphony Way Nature Reserve by staff of the Reserve. The Reserve is situated next to the Cape Town Airport, south of the Stellenbosch Arterial Road and the eastern boundary is Symphony Way.
