Save the Birds of Princessvlei
– 24 April 2015 (part 2).

This is a working partnership with the CBC and the Princessvlei Forum.
The findings of the Mission.
In the Presentation Hall at the Jolly Carp, Anne Whitelock was relating how her team did, to the other Bird Guardians.
The Future Guardians all received some juice and hot cross buns for sustenance and were asked to sit in their groups. Some last minute filling in the questions with the help of Teacher Ingrid.
Brendon then asked for the first team leader to come up and give his teams findings.
Then the 2nd team leader did her teams presentation.
The following team had 2 representatives. There was a sketch of a weaver bird’s nest. Another sketch of a bird, that walks on the land. “Maybe it is a Blacksmith Lapwing?”
The next team all came up together. “We are a team” they said … and this is a sketch with notes about the bird we saw. This sketch showing the Pelican swimming or paddling around on the water. This sketch showed that birds also fly in a formation together.
Next group had lots of feathers and described what they thought the feathers are used for. Flying, keeping warm, hiding away in the vegetation by blending into the background. “We found a squirrels tail too.”
Next team leader. “We saw Egyptian Geese swimming on the water”. “These are some of the sketches done by our team”.
Next team, “Saw birds swimming on the water and there were also some strange sounds we have never heard before…..there was this woof! woof! sound from what looked like a black animal. We dont know what it could have been, we dont see these things here in 3015.
Then – there was this dark, roundish thing, with 4 round bumps on the outside, making a terrible vroom! vroom! sound as it raced around all over the place, making lots of dust, shooting leaves and sand all over the place. We have never seen one of those things before.” (A hooligan on a quad bike, making a spectacle of himself zooming about in our activity area in amongst the trees).
This account was very funny to everybodies amusement and entertainment.
In the background there was serious activity on the go, to get the “Top Secret Certificates” ready to be issued to all the Guardians of the Future. Bridget thanked everyone who came and participated in todays activities and for Saving the Birds of Princessvlei, which part of the Flight of Dreams 2015 – Project. The certificates were handed out to each Guardian of the Future, Here is a proud recipient’s certificate. Everyone was given a naartjie to eat or take home when leaving the Jolly Carp. An enjoyable, fun afternoon and very well thought out programme by the “Elders” of the Princessvlei Forum.
