This is a working relationship with the City of Cape Town and the Zandvlei Trust.
The weather was cool with high overhead cloud and a cold front moving in. The Soccer World Cup vuvuzelas were being blown all afternoon from the Zandvlei picnic and sports grounds down below us. The ground orchids and many spring plants are sprouting in the clearings we have opened up on the mountain side. There is evidence of people cutting down and ring barking the gum trees we have past through clearing the under growth.
Una removed 4 large bags of litter from a “bedroom area” where some bergies have left a huge mess. She found a youngish Cape girdled lizard drowned in a plastic bucket of water amongst the rubbish she picked up.
Bert was working away when he disturbed some bees and had to make a hasty retreat when some followed and stung him. Bees scored between 10 and 15 hits. Bert is tough and decided to carry on working over the road above the “old stable buildings”. Sue was not involved with the bees as she was working further down the slope.
