Saturday 18th – Tuesday 21st March 2017 [3 nights]. 

A maximum of 32 places (CBC members only)

Tuesday 21st March is a public holiday.  Turn the weekend into a long weekend!  The camp begins on Saturday – 12:30 p.m.

Camp Leaders will be Peter Nupen and John Magner


It is a heritage site and has fynbos areas as well as forest areas.  There are good walks as well as two bird hides and over 200 species of birds, including endemics such as the Knysna Woodpecker, Knysna and Victorin’s Warblers, Forest Canary and Cape Siskin. Not endemics, but still mega-ticks, are the majestic Crowned Eagle and South Africa’s only trogon – the colourful Narina Trogon.

You are welcome to arrive any time during the morning of Saturday 18th March and do some exploring on your own.  You can, however, only move into your accommodation at 14:00.  We will gather together at lunchtime to chat about the weekend programme.

ACCOMMODATION – We will be staying in the brand new self-catering cabins that are located on a ridge, with forest on either side. The cabins are 4-sleepers, with two bedrooms, a kuierkamer (inside braai area), a fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge with a built-in fire place. There is also an outside braai area at each unit. Bedding and towels are provided. Bathrooms have a shower only.
Kitchen equipped with Electric fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. Electric oven and gas hob with four burners. Braai facilities: Outdoor braai, and indoor braai in kuierkamer

COST  FOR THE WEEKEND – includes accommodation for 3 nights, bedding, towels, wood, miscellaneous expenses – R770 per person PLUS conservation fees if you do not have a Wild Card valid for Cape Nature resorts.

PRICES are per person sharing.  (If you choose to be in a room on your own, please add R637.50 to the camp costs.

WILD CARD NUMBER: Do you have a valid Cape Nature Wild Card?  If so give type (e.g. Ordinary or Family) and number.  If you are unable to provide this information, you will be charged conservation fees.

Upon receipt of your application you will be sent confirmation of booking and a request for payment.  Please do not pay before you have received this confirmation


Participants are welcome to camp but must please book their own campsite with Cape Nature.  The campsites, though, are a kilometre away from the cottages.  The cost for a campsite (for 4 people) is R300 per night.  If camping is your choice, please request the special camp fee from Priscilla
