GRADE 7 OUTING TO THE SA AGULHAS ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION VESSEL AND ASSOCIATED EXHIBITION AT THE WATERFRONT 10 JUNE 2023.
How lucky we were to be able to book places for this exciting Open Day for the SA Agulhas on 10th June. This was thanks to the perseverance of Kristi Rossouw, their teacher, as at first we were told that tickets were sold out!
This is what Kristi wrote:
On 10 June sixteen very lucky grade 6-7 FEECers got to go aboard the Agulhas 2 Antarctic research ship docked at the V&A Waterfront. We met the captain and crew, visited laboratories and even got to go onto the bridge – the main control room! The educational expo afterwards was both fun and informative – we took home our fair share of prizes while being introduced to onboard/offshore careers, looking down microscopes, and even measuring out the massive wingspan of a Wandering Albatross! We ended off the morning playing some Cave Golf and V&A touristing to warm up afterwards.
Thank you Cape Bird Club, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Antarctic Legacy of South Africa and all the other involved organisations for such an environmentally rich morning!
