OUTING – Rondevlei Nature Reserve Leader: Merle Chalton

Rondevlei Nature Reserve Perth Rd & Fishermens Walk, Zeekoei Vlei, Cape Town, South Africa

Meet at 08h00. These regular monthly outings are for all Rondevlei enthusiasts and beginners are especially welcome. Duration 2 1⁄2 hours, but you can stay as long as you like. Bring a warm anorak even if it is a hot day as it can get cold in the hides. Entrance is free. Entrance is free, but remember to bring your ID, driver’s licence, or passport in order to obtain an entry permit at the gate.

Tokai Arboretum Tokai Road, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Meet at 09h00. The Tokai Arboretum was declared a National Monument in 1985, and is home to over 274 tree species. The car park where we meet is usually good for Common Chaffinch, and Cape Siskins should be found near the now abandoned restaurant building. The bush there should also be good for Cape Canary, Swee Waxbill, African Dusky Flycatcher and with luck, other species such as African Paradise Flycatcher and Red-chested Cuckoo.
