Meet at 08h30. Ganzekraal is a Cape Nature Reserve on the R27 that has recently been proclaimed. It covers a large area inland as far as Mamre, but most of it is not accessible to the public at the moment. We will be walking in the coastal section of the reserve, which will allow us to see a variety of coastal and terrestrial birds. This year the walk is at the end of the spring flower season, but that means we should see some different bird species compared to other years. Witzands Aquifer Conservation Area Atlantis Dunes, Dassenberg Drive (R307), Atlantis, Cape Town, Western Province, South Africa

Meet at 08h30. The Witzands Area includes the Atlantis Dunefields and the Silwerstroomstrand Conservation Area, and protects not only the Atlantis Aquifer, the main water supply for Atlantis, Mamre and Pella, but also more than 163 plant species. Cape Flats Dune Strandveld and Atlantis Sand Fynbos are the two main vegetation types. More than 50 species of water birds roost, breed, and feed in the many wetlands, and lizards, amphibians, and mammals such as steenbok, Cape grysbok, grey mongoose, Cape mole rat and caracal have all been recorded here. All junior birders between 6 and 18 years are invited to join this birding walk. New members, who have joined the club this year, are especially encouraged to come. We will start on the Diep River Trail at 07h15, passing the three bridges down to Brommersvlei Road. Here we will cross the road and explore the Fynbos Circle which is at the end point of the Alphen Trail. A short drive will take us to Bel Ombre Meadow on Rathfelder Avenue. Meet at: 08h00. Kevin Drummond-Hay, a member of our neighbouring Tygerberg Bird Club, will introduce us to the Majik Forest, a garden in the Northern Suburbs with a wealth of shrubs, forested areas, dams, and flowing streams. We can expect to see: Red-faced and White-backed Mousebirds, Acacia Pied Barbet, Bar-throated Apalis, African Paradise Flycatcher. Macassar Dunes Conservation Area Macassar Road, Macassar / Baden Powell Drive, Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Western Cape

Meet at 08h00. Area is 1116ha in size and is one of the 24 official City of Cape Town Nature Reserves. The vegetation consists of Cape Flats Dune Strandveld. We can expect to see bush birds, waders, and shorebirds. Bring chairs and refreshments. Directions: From the N2 take exit 38. At the junction turn right onto the M9/Macassar Road towards Firgrove. Turn left onto Tie Road, cross the bridge over the Eerste River and follow the road past the waterworks to the parking area at the coast, where we meet.

Meet at 09h00. Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in the country. It offers beautiful views and many birding opportunities during walks on the lawn under the shady trees on the banks of the Eerste Rivier and in the vineyards. Meet in the car park at Spier where we will bird along the river, around the lake, and in the garden. Directions: Take the N2 out of Cape Town and turn left at the Baden Powell turn -off to Stellenbosch on the R310.
