Spier Wine Farm R310 Baden Powell Drive, Stellenbosch, Western Province, South Africa

Meet at 09h00. Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in the country. It offers beautiful views and many birding opportunities during walks on the lawn under the shady trees on the banks of the Eerste Rivier and in the vineyards. Meet in the car park at Spier where we will bird along the river, around the lake, and in the garden. Directions: Take the N2 out of Cape Town and turn left at the Baden Powell turn -off to Stellenbosch on the R310. Tygerberg Nature Reserve 1 Totius Street, Welgemoed, Cape Town, Western Province, South Africa

Meet at 08h30. Tygerberg Nature Reserve is a 309 hectare reserve on the Tygerberg Hills. It supports one of the last remnants of the critically endangered Swartland Shale Renosterveld vegetation type and boasts 562 plant species. The reserve has 137 bird species recorded, including Black-winged Kite, Peregrine Falcon, and Barn Owl. The area is hilly and requires a level of fitness. Wear good walking shoes.
