OUTING – Junior Members proposed dates with venues to be announced.

We are planning monthly outings for junior CBC members (9–16 years) at local birding sites during 2024. Details of venues and leaders will be announced in the eNewsletter and here, but please diarise these dates in the meantime: • Tuesday 26 March (during school holidays) • Sunday 14 April • Saturday 4 May • Sunday 9 June (last weekend of 2nd Term) • Saturday 13 July (first weekend of 3rd Term)

Meet at 09h00 Rondevlei Nature Reserve (Fisherman’s Walk) in the picnic area. We hope to watch bird-ringing being done by Dalton Gibbs, Felicity Ellmore, Karis Daniel and team in the picnic area, after we have walked to the five hides and back. Ages: The outing is open to all junior birders from seven to seventeen years. Children who are not CBC members are also very welcome to join us. The Cape Bird Club members have been helping the City of Cape Town by clearing invasive alien vegetation since 1974, when Alan Morris started this activity in the Wildwood Bird Sanctuary, now the Zandvlei Nature Reserve. Come and help our core group, clear seedlings, saplings and cut down trees too. Small school groups or individuals who need to do their social responsibility projects are welcome too.
