Meet at 08h00. These regular monthly outings are for all Rondevlei enthusiasts and beginners are especially welcome. Duration 2 1⁄2 hours, but you can stay as long as you like. Bring a warm anorak even if it is a hot day as it can get cold in the hides. Entrance is free. Meet at 08h00. We will meet near the ticket office. There is a small entry fee (and a discount for pensioners). We will spend time in the various hides and walk the winding paths to see the variety of bush birds and water birds. Optionally, depending on the weather and time, we may also include a trip on a canal boat. Bring along your tea and a snack. The Cape Bird Club members have been helping the City of Cape Town by clearing invasive alien vegetation since 1974, when Alan Morris started this activity in the Wildwood Bird Sanctuary, now the Zandvlei Nature Reserve. Come and help our core group, clear seedlings, saplings and cut down trees too. Small school groups or individuals who need to do their social responsibility projects are welcome too. Anusuya is former Honorary President of BirdLife SA. She is an NRF A-rated, world-renowned palaeo- biologist based at UCT. Her research on the microscopic structure of mineralised tissues has led to a better understanding of the biology of a variety of extinct animals, such as dinosaurs (including birds), the flying reptiles, and the mammal-like reptiles. Meet at the Main Gate of the Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve before 08h00. All are welcome, experienced or not. If you are new to birding, I shall put you into a group which will help you learn quickly and easily. There is always something new to be seen or heard. Meet at 08h00. Area is 1116ha in size and is one of the 24 official City of Cape Town Nature Reserves. The vegetation consists of Cape Flats Dune Strandveld.
