Spier Wine Farm R310 Baden Powell Drive, Stellenbosch, Western Province, South Africa

Meet at 09h00. Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in the country. It offers beautiful views and many birding opportunities during walks on the lawn under the shady trees on the banks of the Eerste Rivier and in the vineyards. Meet in the car park at Spier where we will bird along the river, around the lake, and in the garden. Directions: Take the N2 out of Cape Town and turn left at the Baden Powell turn -off to Stellenbosch on the R310. OUTING – Rondevlei Nature Reserve Leader: Merle Chalton

Rondevlei Nature Reserve Perth Rd & Fishermens Walk, Zeekoei Vlei, Cape Town, South Africa

Meet at 08h00. These regular monthly outings are for all Rondevlei enthusiasts and beginners are especially welcome. Duration 2 1⁄2 hours, but you can stay as long as you like. Bring a warm anorak even if it is a hot day as it can get cold in the hides. Entrance is free. Entrance is free, but remember to bring your ID, driver’s licence, or passport in order to obtain an entry permit at the gate.

Kirstenbosch BIRP Count.

NB:  We have to postpone the BIRP count to 08 April 2025, because the Two Oceans Half Marathon is taking place on 06 April 2025. The route passes the entrance to Kirstenbosch, therefore making access to Kirstenbosch Gardens difficult.

Kirstenbosch Bird Walk

Please wear suitable clothing for the weather.   Your Leader today is Otto Schmidt. We meet at the Information desk at Gate 1. Organiser is Linda Hibbin.

Meet at the Main Gate of the Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve before 08h00. All are welcome, experienced or not. If you are new to birding, I shall put you into a group which will help you learn quickly and easily. There is always something new to be seen or heard. OUTING – Altydgedacht Wine Estate, Durbanville. Leader: Kevin Drummond-Hay.

Altydgedacht Wine Estate Tygerberg Valley Rd, Cape Farms,, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Meet at: 08h00.  Altydgedacht Wine Estate, Tygerberg Valley Road. Leader: Kevin Drummond-Hay. We will walk mostly on roadways, with a short detour on a path to reach the D’Aria Dam. Directions: Travelling on the N1 from Cape Town, take exit 20 to Jip de Jager Drive (M16). Continue approximately 5.3 km on Jip de Jager, turn left onto Tygerberg Valley Road, and then left onto Altydgedacht Wine Estate.
