Please note. Meet at 08h30. Please note the winter starting time. The venue has changed to Strandfontein Sewage Works because the water levels at Rondevlei are very low. Meet in the parking area at the first building (a large brown, painted building on your right) before the start of the pans. If you have a scope, please bring it with you. Meet at 08h30. We will take a walk along the rehabilitated wetland section of the Westlake River in Kirstenhof. This wetland is part of the City of Cape Town’s Living Urban Waterways Project. Bring chairs and refreshments. Led by Daryl de Beer. Directions: Take the M4 (Main Road) towards Retreat/Muizenberg. Turn right at the traffic lights into Pollsmoor Road/Kirstenhof. After about 900m turn left into The Sanctuary Road. Turn right to the parking area where we will meet.

Meet at 08h30. This reserve is known for its mountain fynbos and a large variety of Proteas. Five of the six fynbos endemics are found here, namely, Cape Sugarbird, Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cape Siskin, Victorin’s Warbler, and Protea Seedeater. Directions: Take the N2 from Cape Town and turn left at the Somerset West/Strand intersection (Broadway). Turn right into Main Road. Follow the road to the Lourensford Road intersection where you turn left. Drive for some distance until you see a Shell garage. Please join us by meeting at the Edith Stepehens Nature Reserve gate at 08h30 on Friday morning. Then we travel to the Symphony Way Nature Reserve up the road. The Reserve is situated next to the Cape Town Airport, south of the Stellenbosch Arterial Road and the eastern boundary is Symphony Way.
