Evening Meeting: Pharoah’s Birds. Speaker: John Lombard.

This presentation combines John’s passion for both Ancient Egypt and birding. The Ancient Egyptians
used 73 birds in their very picturesque hieroglyphic writings, and we will see how they used them to
communicate and to convey the history of Ancient Egypt especially on their temples, tombs and
elsewhere. The Ancient Egyptian civilisation spanned a period of more than 3000 years during which
more than 450 pharaohs ruled during 31 dynasties.
