CWAC at Zandvlei Nature Reserve – 23 April 2011.

This is a working relationship with the City of Cape Town and the Cape Bird Club.

Alan Morris started the co-ordinated bird counts in December 1974 and they still continue at Zandvlei.

It was a beautiful calm day. The 2 Oceans Marathon was in progress along the Main Road, so the Rutter Road Pond was not counted. The estuary mouth was open. There was plenty of fishing activity by Cape Cormorants, Great crested Grebes and Little Egrets.
Record number of White backed Ducks was counted, 96 in total.
