This is a working partnership with the City of Cape Town and the Cape Bird Club.
- This is an Important Bird Area (IBA).
- The site has been counted continuously on a monthly by volunteer CBC members since 1983, when Alan Morris (then CBC Chairman) decided Strandfontein needed recorded data, after the successful nearby Zandvlei bird counts recorded for the Marina da Gama development.
- Strandfontein was declared a RAMSAR site on World Wetlands Day 02/02/2015.
- Please come along and help Graham Pringle and his group with the monthly counts and quarterly CWAC, on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 08h00.
- You dont have to be an expert to help at this premier Cape Town birding site.
