The Conservation Committee had their annual braai at the Zandvlei Nature Reserve office buildings at the False Bay Rendezvous on Sunday afternoon, 10 March 2019. Thank you to Suretha for organising the venue.
The weather was dark and ominous with very high rain clouds blowing in from the SE making it a real “Black South Easter”. The fire was lit and the food cooked before any serious rain came down. We do need the rain.
Outside we found the young Spotted Eagle Owls and they do some serious rodent control in the area by the content of their pellets deposited in the area. Thanks to Dieter who took the photos. My photos were all lost unfortunately.
We did remember Dick who is away and the only Committee member not present. The spread on the tables looked wonderful thanks to all. Simon and Clifford kept us entertained with the stories about guiding and what they saw in the Kruger Park on the recent BLSA group birding tour.
And so for our Christmas party eventually held in March when we could get together socially. We left as the heavy rain started to come down and our cars got a good wash on the way home.
