On the lawn looking east with the Zeekoevlei behind you, the stalls arranged from left to right were the City of Cape Town Disaster Management stand, then the Cape Flats plants, the Eagle Encounters, Melomed the main sponsor of the event. A food stand. Then the Registration area had been transformed in the South Peninsula High Jazz Band stand. Next was another food stand, followed by the Cape Reptile Club and the CBC / BirdLife South Africa stand. The start of the Fun Walk was next. In the tent were the CTEET, SANCOB, Smart Living, FBNR and the Village Heights Community Centre craft stands.
The photos will give you some idea of what took place.
Those who had completed the forms and put them in the box at the end of the Fun Walk participated in a Lucky Draw and won prizes ranging from Season tickets to Rondvlei Nature Reserve with information booklets, Tickets to the 2 Ocean Aquarium, tickets to the Cable Car ride up Table Mountain, tickets to the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach, “hotboxes” (for slow cooking food). There was an annual membership subscription to the CBC too.
The cold wind had picked up and almost sent the stand gazebos flying at times. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves despite the weather.
Thank you to Melomed for sponsoring the event again this year. And thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who participated to help make the event a success.
