The cottages with kitchen and lounge. The lapa (seen in winter with the grass dry). What to do there: Birding: For the extended area the SABAP2 birdlist indicates 178 species. The farm birdlist currently records 131species for the summer season, there are plenty more to be found. Walking: There are numerous walks on the farm. There are a number of dams and wetlands which attract water birds and waders. In the valley there is a resident pair of African Fish Eagles. The farm has rehabilitated grasslands, wetlands and water courses, bushveld, thicket and open hill habitats. Game farm drive: There are 10kms of tracks to follow on a mixed cattle and game farm. The views are wonderful from the top of the hills. Rounding up the sheep for the night. The cattle sheltering from the hot sun.
How to get there: Alasil Farm is on the R763 road, just off the R24, travelling north west from Magaliesburg to Rustenburg. Only 1 1/2 hours by motor car from Johannesburg and Pretoria. For more information; Contact: Gael Barrable.
