Some of the group at the end of the year outing. On the 16th December 2005, twenty members attended the outing lead by Bruce McKenzie. The day was perfect for the venue - no wind and overcast.
The Osprey obliging all by sitting on the perch in good view. The most exciting spotting occurred early, when the Osprey obliged by perching, fishing and quartering. The sighting of the two resident Fish Eagles was demoted to a less auspicious status!
Avocets in the Central Pan.
A resident Three Banded Plover. A visiting Grey Plover. Apart from the expected bird species, the Grey Plover at the salt mash and a Willow Warbler in the reeds, added interest to the walk.
Members having brunch after an interesting morning at Zandvlei. A mixture of Swallows - Barn, Whitethroated and Greater Striped - in large numbers, preening themselves on the dirt road to the boom made interesting viewing on our departure. Heather Howell
