Rondevlei boat trip – October 2009

The Rondevlei boat trip to the islands to observe nesting birds was postponed for a week due to high winds in the area.

Observing the nests.

It took place on Sunday 11 October instead. The weather was not perfect but a full boat took off as planned. Because the nests have been flooded by unseasonal rains, they were not as advanced as hoped and few chicks were observed but eggs were seen in nests plus many brooding birds. There was also much nest-building activity.
Thanks to Joy Bennett of Imvubu, it was a memorable outing.
