The Cape Bird Club

Raapenberg bird hide visit – July 2009

We were most fortunate to have been led by two enthusiastic conservation officers, Maya Beukes and her husband Otto.
Apart from visiting two bird hides and assisting with a bird count, the Juniors handled non-venomous Water Snakes as well as Clicking Stream Frogs and then went on to rescue trapped Leopard Toads.

Of special interest among the birds we saw was a White-backed Duck.

Many of our members were away for the school holidays but we are pleased to welcome two new families – the sisters, Tara and Alexis and brothers Will and Tom.
The weather was perfect.
