Berg river Boat Trip – April 2009

The crew with captain Lucia.

Heather Howell was not well, so Lucia Rodrigues stood in for her to lead the outing. It was partly cloudy on the Berg River, and there was a light wind.

It was a productive outing yielding a total of 53 species more or less. A few of our highlights were Purple and Black-crowned (Night) Herons, a Common Redshank, Greenshanks, Whimbrel and Barn Owls. What was so surprising is that they were in a bridge over water. Unfortunately we couldn’t get close enough to any other waders.
