CBC INTERNATIONAL BIRDING TOURS - 2012.     new 21/11/2011

Rwanda - April 2012    please note the closing date below.

For those who are looking to expand their African birding experience, Tropical Birding have offered the Cape Bird Club a Rwanda special 10 day trip in April next year.
Rwanda offers a great birding experience and has over 650 bird species which includes a large number of the Albertine Rift Valley endemics.
Costs will again depend on the number of participants (a minimum of 8 up to 14 can be accommodated) and will range from U$3435 to U$2925 per person sharing, excluding air flights.

Bookings close on 31 January 2012, and although CBC members will get preference, non-members may also apply as we would like to ensure that we are able to run this trip.

For more details contact Johan Schlebusch Johan.g.schlebusch@gmail.com  or phone 082 804 9025.

Flocking to FLOCK 2012.

FLOCK is the annual gathering of BirdLife South Africa, also its AGM. It’s a great event with lots going on and a chance to socialise with members from other clubs around the country. Next year it will be held in Port Elizabeth and hosted by BirdLife, Eastern Cape over the weekend 16/17/18/ March 2012.
In addition to this BLSA next year will hold a 2 day Ornithological Conference before FLOCK on 15/16 March in association with the ‘Fitz, which in itself should be worth attending.

We would like to have a good Cape Bird Club presence (a show of strength) at these events, particularly as they are almost on our doorstep.

The proposed plan is to put together a bird trip around the event. Self drive, bird on the way down, attend the events (there are some good birding options in and around PE tied to the event), bird on the way back. The exact time, route and schedule is yet to be finalized, probably about 8 - 10 days in total.

Any interested members can send their name and contact details to Mel Tripp tripp@iburst.co.za
Once firmed-up, we’ll send details where after you can confirm your booking.
Closing date for bookings will be 31 December 2011.

This is an Outreach Project of the Cape Bird Club promoting and encouraging environmental awareness, education, and the need to conserve the wetlands of the Cape Flats Area, and to have fun birdwatching, for adults and scholars.
