Projects on the go;

  • removal and control of invasive alien vegetation

  • monitoring and regulating the water levels in some of the pans

  • improvement on the access control to the area,

  • the establishment and protection of breeding colonies and islands

  • construction of two kingfisher breeding banks

  • monitoring of the stick islands

  • collection of basic weather data and various other projects to improve the biodiversity of the area,

  • taking local school children around as part of the environmental educational programme,

  • training employees at the Sewerage Works on matters environmental,

  • creating a database of the mammals, amphibians, birds, insects, plants, reptiles and rainfall.

Strandfontein is part of  The False Bay Ecology Park.
